The Department of Sciences and Humanities was established in 2002. It offers different foundational courses in across various disciplines like Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, English Language, Communication Skills and Management for the first year students of B. Tech Programme.
The department offers quality education in teaching, learning and evaluation processes. It is supported with state-of-the art infrastructure and learning resources. The technologically-advanced laboratories and workshops, student-centric teaching methods, and blended learning platforms help students carry out their academic pursuit with ease.
Research activities like workshops, seminars, publications, invited lectures etc are carried out by the department regularly for the benefit of both the students and faculty members.
The department also provides a variety of co-curricular and extra-curricular platforms to the students with the aim of moulding them into better human beings. Various cultural activities and competitions are organised regularly by the department with the support of the management. The students are motivated to participate in programmes organised by the department in order to face and tackle real life situations and problems of the society.
Dr. C. Uma Devi is a distinguished Professor and Head of the Department of Mathematics with over 27 years of teaching experience in higher education. She has been serving at TKR College of Engineering and Technology since August 28, 2003, playing a vital role in strengthening the department through quality teaching, academic leadership, and research excellence. She obtained her B.Sc. (1994) and M.Sc. (1996) from Osmania University (OU) and was awarded her Ph.D. in Mathematics by Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Anantapur (JNTUA) in 2017. Her area of specialization is Bio Fluid Dynamics, where she has made notable research contributions. Dr. Uma Devi has an impressive academic record with 20 research publications in reputed Scopus, SCI, and UGC-indexed journals. She also holds one patent and has contributed one book/book chapter, reflecting her commitment to research, innovation, and knowledge dissemination. She has qualified the Andhra Pradesh State Eligibility Test (AP-SET) and successfully completed NPTEL certification courses, demonstrating her continuous pursuit of academic and professional development. Throughout her career, Dr. Uma Devi has actively participated in numerous Faculty Development Programmes (FDPs), workshops, seminars, conferences, and other academic activities, contributing significantly to curriculum enhancement, research promotion, and institutional quality initiatives. She has been instrumental in mentoring students and faculty members while fostering an environment of academic excellence and innovation. With her extensive teaching experience, research expertise in Bio Fluid Dynamics, and unwavering dedication to higher education, Dr. C. Uma Devi continues to inspire students and colleagues alike. Her leadership and commitment to academic excellence have significantly contributed to the growth and reputation of the Department of Mathematics.
